Job Description

Boğaziçi University Department of Sociology invites applications for a full-time position (assistant professor, associate professor, or professor) to begin in Spring 2018. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the department’s undergraduate and graduate theory courses, especially on classical sociological theory and/or demography, population studies courses.


Applicants must have a PhD in Sociology in hand at the start date of the appointment. We seek a scholar who will contribute equally to our undergraduate and graduate programs and who will maintain a productive and substantive research agenda. The normal teaching load is two courses per semester with optional summer teaching.

The Department of Sociology is a pioneering center of attraction on the national and international levels, placing equal emphasis on teaching and original research. Regions of research include Turkey, Europe, the comparative Middle East, the United States, and Central Asia. While the primary disciplinary foci of the department are sociology and anthropology, the interests of the faculty are often interdisciplinary.
